Our Precious Delaney Rose

There's a sweet baby girl
Who came into our world
One warm October night.

The stars were bright
And the prayers were precise
As she safely came into our lives.

Daddy held her right off.
Made him all mushy and soft,
Like a really good Daddy it should.

He said, "I'll give you the moon,
and we'll play with balloons.
You're a precious and wonderful
Sight."

When Mommy awoke
from her journey that night
In uncertainty she raised her head.

She was delighted to see
Delaney Rose sleeping.
Her little girl safe in her bed.

Mommy held to her tight.
Thanked the Lord all was right.
And prayed for her strength to grow.

Delaney Rose is a lovely
Little girl to behold.
She has a round face that glows.

With blue eyes and brown hair
Her looks are so fair
And she smiles way down to her toes.

I'll end this wee tale
With prayer to God up above
That He'll bless and good fortune bestow,
On Our precious Delaney Rose

On Becoming a Grandmother

Blogging is a creative way to keep in touch with family and friends. My daughters-in-law are very computer literate, and have introduced us to blogging. So, I'm going to give it a try too.

Becoming Delaney's grandmother has been an incredible experience. I'm going to write an essay about it before long. You know, I love my children tremendously, but just seeing Delaney's picture brings a smile to my face and a warmth to my heart that I've not felt before. Her Grandpa says that she makes him think of the song "Isn't She Lovely." And he actually will go around the house humming it. I say, "So you're thinking about your grandbaby, huh?" To which I get a big smile.

Delaney is such a blessing to our family, and I can't believe I get to see her in about two weeks. I can't wait to hug and squeeze the little munchkin.
